The 10 Best Dressed at the 2015 Emmys

Last night's Emmys were all about the girl power, and that sentiment definitely translated into the fashions we saw on the red carpet. Some celebs stuck with the tried and true while others pushed the envelope in ways that utterly delighted me. Below, I'm counting down my 10 favorite looks.

10. Mindy Kaling in Salvador Perez

Mindy knows what works for her body, and she smartly relies on her Mindy Project costume designer for custom gowns like this one. Did I mention how much I love the bright yellow, something I don't think we've seen on Mindy before?

9. Emma Roberts in Jenny Packham

Simple blush gowns, especially those crafted by Jenny Packham, never get old.

8. Ellie Kemper in Naeem Khan

So what if the Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt star wasn't nominated for an Emmy? The intricate design of this dress makes her in a winner in my book.

7. Laverne Cox in Calvin Klein

Have I seen this silhouette a million times before? Of course. Does that make it any less stunning on Laverne? Not at all.

6. Amy Poehler in Michael Kors

Did Amy just become the new Jennifer Aniston? It sure looks that way in this black cutout gown, accented by her noticeably darker do. P.S. I'm still furious she lost out on that Emmy.

5. Claire Danes in Prada

Those chains. The color. It's unexpected, and the result is worth the risk.

4. Kiernan Shipka in Dior

If a woman wears pants to an awards show, she is automatically guaranteed a spot on my best dressed list. No questions asked.

3. Gina Rodriguez in Lorena Sarbu

Looking like a straight-up princess, the Jane the Virgin star outshone even John Stamos when they presented together.

2. Kerry Washington in Marc Jacobs

Kerry nails the juxtaposition of girly and tough with this fresh off the runway look.

1. Taraji P. Henson in Alexander Wang

The chain straps and subtle cutout, which might have overwhelmed had it not been for the all-black palette, prove that it's all in the details.
